Reader to Reader

readertoreaderReader to Reader, Inc. is an award winning public charity whose goal is to efficiently collect and distribute books to needy school libraries both in Massachusetts and across the United States. The need for books is critical, because 60% of underprivileged children do not own a single book. The program is in need of gently used and new books, covering a range of subjects from literary classics, popular fiction, mysteries, and science fiction, to science, history, mathematics, economics, psychology, education and other subjects from Kindergarten through the Junior High School level. Thanks to the generosity of St. Cecilia parish, 601 cases of books have been collected and delivered to Reader to Reader in Amherst, MA.
The impact we have made by simply cleaning out our bookshelves of gently used books we no longer read is great! In addition; thanks to Gift Card Sales over the years, H.O.P.E. Ministry has donated $5000 to Reader to Reader for the purchase of books that are requested from needy school libraries. Gift Cards, another simple idea ~ Support H.O.P.E. Ministries without spending any extra money! Simple. We all buy groceries, clothes, stationary supplies, gasoline, medicine, and dine out. The positive impact made when we purchase St. Cecilia Gift Cards is also great! Please, support our H.O.P.E. Ministries by purchasing gift cards after Mass. And, continue to donate books to Reader to Reader. Thank you! Please contact Phyllis Ervin (596-8455) with any questions.
